Failsworth lies to the south-west of the borough, and is known as the town linking Oldham with Manchester. Its motto is 'True Worth Never Fails'.

It is famous for hat-making - Failsworth Hats is perhaps the town's best known company, which was set up in 1892 to make silk hats.

The landmark Failsworth Pole stands on Oldham Road, and was first erected in 1793, when the first 'Political' pole was built to `overawe the Jacobins, and to demonstrate the loyalty of the township...' The current pole dates from 1923.

Failsworth boasts a Country Park - Daisy Nook, off Stannybrook Road. Lancashire poet and author Ben Brierley was born in Failsworth.
